I've been on vacation for a while and decided to build a tuned port cabinet for a tube amp I have. The cabinet turned out real nice, but I can't decide what note to tune the ports to. I'm having a little trouble finding a spot for hooking up my tuner to it too.
These tuned ports are more trouble than I thought! _________________ You can observe a lot just by looking |

Depending on the size of your cabinet, an un-tuned front or rear port might be all you need! As musicians, all we're usually interested in is portability and a good sound with our equipment, but that's far different than what most audiophiles are looking for. |

You are right Donnie. I do have un tuned ports, I was kidding about the tuning part.
The real reason for the new cabinet is so I can have two twelve inch D123's. My amp is 16 ohm output, and I have two 12" 8 ohm D123"s I've been saving, and now I can use them to replace the single Valve King speaker that's in it now. I am going to put the amp and speakers in the new cabinet today. Hope it sounds good! _________________ You can observe a lot just by looking |

I just finished my new ValveKing amplifier cabinet. It is closed back and has two 12 inch JBL speakers.
This amp has changed my opinion of tube amps.

Very nice cab you built. The two 12 inch JBL speakers should project nice with a closed back design. |

Thanks Len, Chris,
It changed the sound a lot. It brings out the wound strings very well.
I have yet to decide about a handle. I like the clean wood top and can't decide whether to put on a stock handle or make one that matches, or just not have one. _________________ You can observe a lot just by looking |

How about handles on the sides? One person could carry it by both handles when it needs moved, or have a pair of roadies grab one handle each. It has casters for the flat ground I see. _________________ RICK ABBOTT

Rick, I am leaning toward handles on the sides. _________________ You can observe a lot just by looking |
