The year is 1950.
If it's the Supro Supreme clone that looks like this, it's worth about $250 - $300.

Rick, I see a Music Man amp behind the steels. I get to use one of those that the house band has set up on Friday nite open mic gig. It sounds pretty nice with whatever lap steel I take to play.Is this one of your usual amps? |

What Rick A. says, he is the guy along with Brad S. and a couple of others. I know the value of Pedal Steels down to the last penny, but non-pedal is another matter.
If Rick says its worth a million, then get ready to retire, you just hit the lottery! (but wait, he said $250.00 didn't he,)

Gary, the Music Man HD130s are great amps.
We have 3 of them in the studio - the one in the pic and 2 others that were recovered in blonde tolex and oxblood grill cloth.
I used one of them on the road for many years.
Bobbe, thank you for that vote of confidence.
As you know, these guitars were student models in their day so there are quite a few of them still around.
I think that's the only reason they aren't valued higher - yet.
More and more players are realizing how great these string-through pickups sound, especially for a rock/blues saturated sustain type sound.
So the supply and demand ratio is slowly tilting . . |

Another vote for the Supro Pickup here! I love my Fender but the Supro beats it hands down for Blues. It's great when something good is still affordable. I agree with Rick. The prices on good laps are going up pretty fast. No panic here, but they are going to continue to rise for sure! |

Would the instrument pictured below be an upgrade or a lesser instrument from the Supro Supreme clones pictured above? It appears to have the same string-through pickup. Would it's value be comparable to the $250.00 to $300.00 range estimated by Mr. Alexander back in 2007?
Sorry for the crappy pics. Can't figure out how to make them larger. |
