This is the power of Ray Price's music:
I just spent the past two years living and playing in South Texas. After moving back to Maryland, I have put out some musicians-wanted ads to form a new band. Of the dozen or so country legends I put out there as 'artists whose songs I like to play'...
... Ray Price is the common thread in every one of the five responses I've had, so far. The reach of his songs is astounding to me. Even though I discovered his music only a few years ago, and nearly 50 years since his most prolific period, Ray Price's catalog still sets the bar.
Many many thanks to a great man and his band(s) for immeasurable and invaluable inspiration. _________________ 1981 Push-Pull

The American flag at the Country Music Hall of Fame has been lowered to half mast.
Ray Price is one of the greatest artists this country has ever produced.

As with many others, I offer my prayers and condolences to Mrs. Price and the Price family. Words are inadequate to express the impact Ray Price has had on my efforts in the area of music. From that first weak attempt to sing Night Life at a teenage dance to leading church choirs toward singing with excellence, I am deeply indebted to Mr. Price for setting the standards very high. Thanks are also in order for the service Mr. Price rendered to our country in the U. S. Marine Corps. Thank you, sir for remaining faithful to our Lord Jesus all the way. Looking forward to seeing you on the other side. |

I was out last nite at a karaoke bar and put my self up for 'I Won't Mention It Again' and belted it out like I didn't know I could do, I really wanted it right. That gave me a whole new perspective on the talent he really was - wow - I had never tried to sing that before.
What a song, what a singer, and what a legend.
Thank you for the Music, Ray Price. You will always be missed, sir. _________________ 1980 Sierra S-12 Universal, Peavey Session 500, Boss RV-3 and Sho-Bud VolPed and Zombie Cat |

Rest In Peace Ray Price. Your contributions to real country music are monumental, and the primary reason for my passion in learning and playing the steel guitar. It is always such a pleasure when on a gig to hear someone in the dance crowd call out "Ray Price". The demand for your kind of music will never go away! My sincere condolences to the family. _________________ D-10 Mullen RP Telonics TCA-500a Combo Amp, Peavy Nashville 400s, 1000, session 400 limited, Nashville 112, Telonics VP, DD3 |

He sang right up until the end. Gotta admire him for that. And his music lives on through his many recordings, video, and film clips. _________________ Sho-Bud Pro III + Marshall JMP 2204 half stack = good grind! |

Ray was my favorite singer and I was so thrilled to be able to front him one time before I retired. It was such a pleasure to talk to him and find out he was just as nice a person as I always thought he was. My prayers are with his family. I know the music in heaven will be better now. _________________ Carter 12 string 4petals 5knees, Mullen G2 3 petals 4 knees

I have followed his career from the begining. Learned most of his songs and sang then with various bands around the world. I also play pedal steel guitar and have enjoyed playing his songs as instrumentals and while others have sang them. Ray has been a big part of my life as he has with all the musicians that played his music as well as the one who enjoyed his golden voice. I always dreamed of being a Cherokee Cowboy as most Steel players have. It won't happen here on earth, but maybe in Heaven. _________________ Red Zum, Telonics Amp, and a Lexicon MK200 Effects. |

I recall being a young Army recruit in basic training at Ft. Bliss, 1956. I was lonely and bewildered, but musically still addicted to 50's rock. I was sitting in the enlisted club and the juke box started playing "Crazy Arms" and I was mesmerized. I listened several times to the tune and I was back as a country fan. |

All steel guitar enthusiast owe much gratitude to Mr. Price and maybe some to his producer, Don Law. His music put the steel guitar in the forefront for many years. I think of all the other artist he promoted throughout his career. Would there have been a Willie Nelson, Roger Miller, Johnny Paycheck, or many other numerous talents if Ray had not recorded their songs or hired them for his band. Would there be a Buddy Emmons to the magnitude there is if Ray had not allowed him a front seat on records or stage. The finest voice ever but what he contributed goes way beyond the voice. Probably the most influential artist in an obscure manner that country music has known. |
