I just got this guitar on eBay for $250, it is new and looks nice, I did little research and some video and sound clips I could find on line were pretty good, same with reviews I could find of this instrument, there seems to be no bad reviews and it looks like buyers are happy with the instrument...any input or advice is highly appreciated...

Regals are excellent bang for the buck. I really like their "Black Lightning" model.

Not that I know what I am doing but I think the cone in it is already pretty good. I also bought an RD 40 on ebay and I put a Beard Legend cone in it. I took it to a festival this summer and compared it to a 2500$ Beard. They both sounded pretty much the same to me and it certainly was better than the Gold Tone that was there.

I just can't believe these prices Shocked , I just ordered a Audio Tehnica ATR 2100 USB mic, for 50 bucks, new, I'm going to use that to record my Regal with on my iMac, this mic has the best reviews of all the USB mics I could find...WOW ...amazing huh?

Damir,
I think 80$ plus shipping from Resophonic Outfitters (Beard). I put it in myself but this is not the first one I have done. Its not hard and you really should learn how to take out the cone and adjust the guitar anyway because over time whatever setup you have on the reso is going to change.

You can buy a CD from Beard on setup or use the Stew-Mac site setup instructions. It is just a matter of getting everything aligned. If the guitar was ok with the old cone you should not have any problems.

Not 100% necessary, but the #14 spider bridge will also help with the overall sound quality if you're changing the cone anyway. Beard part # DSB-118

Gregg, spider is not too bad, 50 bucks, I think I'll just wait and see how I like the tone of the guitar with factory parts first...

thank you Brad, I think this is more guitar than I can handle, but the price was so good, and guitar is beautiful... aventually I can get a Beard cone and a spider, and it should be a nice instrument, and maybe somewhere down the road a nice Fishman "Nashville" pick up and "Aura" pedal, who knows... Merry Christmas to you and your family my friend...

My first resonator was one of those newer Regals - not with the fancy inlay. To my ears it sounded like a nice reso guitar - and a really nice build. And, yes, I paid $250 (or so) around 2001, which is exactly what I paid for my first real lefty acoustic in 1978, a Chinese-made Yamaha. So these prices are not only incredibly low, but also why we're having items manufactured overseas.

I got some John Pearse 3000 Nickel Wound strings for my Regal, it says they are for "G" tuning, can I tune my guitar to "D" tuning with those strings? or do I have to get another set of strings for "D" tuning? and what is the most popular tuning for a squareneck resonator guitars anyway?

UPS delivered my guitar today, love it, very nice instrument, have it tuned to G and then tried with a D tuning, must say that I like D tuning better, at least for now, G is more for the hard core bluegrass I guess, and I'm far from pickin' like that...sticking with a "wildwood Flower" for now LOL ...
