Very cool, Andy, thanx as always!
It'd be cool to hear Tal and Marian together like on her show as Les Paul once did, that was great.
Tal came to Honolulu many years back for a quick workshop, all I could do was hold my jaw in place.

If you've ever seen or heard Buddy Emmons play percussion on the steel by tapping the pickup and then hitting the strings with his picks in tempo - this is where he got it from. @ 10:00 you can hear Tal doing this trick on guitar. Andy - thanks for posting this - it really puts you in the room. Really digging it.

I got to hear Tal Farlow in William's Pub, Minneapolis in 1983. Got to shake his hand; my hand disappeared like a child's. Then I understood how he could play those incredible chords.

Also heard The Great Guitars (Kessel, Ellis & Byrd) at that club. great memories.

Robert, Tal & Herb Ellis both did that percussion trick. Tal said he had seen a few Philadelphia players do it. It was a apparently a regional Philly thing in the late 40s to do that bongo effect.

Rich, I saw Tal live in a club in Boston in the early 80s. He had a killer head cold and really should have been home in bed. That didn't stop him from taking a three minute solo on Body and Soul all in harmonics - one of the most astounding technical feats and aesthetically beautiful live performances I was ever privileged to see and hear.
