There's a spring inside. It's probably weak from age
and needs to be adjusted so it goes to the off position
again. You may have to shorten the spring a little. _________________ aka "Lucky Kay"--Custom built Rittenberry SD10 3X5, Walker S/S, NV-112, and Hilton Pedal |

Did you recently restring the pedal or change the pot? Did you wrap the string sround the pulley the wrong direction so the tension pulls the pedal closed rather than open? _________________ Chris Lucker

Hi Dale,
All the spring does is keep tension on the string.
If you tighten the allen key bolts on each side of the pedal a fraction, it with stop it dropping down.

Murray. |

Along the same lines I loosen the spring and string enough so I can hand turn the pot shaft until it is "just-off" and mark it w/ a sharpie as "top-dead-center" (TDC). Then I retighten the spring and string making sure my mark remains at TDC......and voila!
You need sufficient tension to allow friction to turn the potshaft, but not enough to cause string breakage.
After a couple of tries, you'll get it just where you like it. |
