Practice blocking... be glad you have the sustain..

I has taken forever for me to learn to block, but I am finally getting there.

I may, in fact, be nuts. However, I am screwed onto the right bolt... Jesus!

Hello my fellow Nebraskan steeler! Sure wish I had your problem. Where abouts in Nebraska are you from?

Yes, this post would be like someone saying "Help, I'm having too much sex". I guess it's time to get the blocking thing going. A very good problem to have.

Your vol. pedal will thank you too.

Joe Wright is the guy for pick blocking technique, and technical skills everywhere, his instruction is like you'd expect from an olympic coach. Find a seminar so you learn the skills with him in the room...he'll have you do pick blocking exercises for just long enough that you'll be able to master the technique through practise...and it won't take long at all to learn it.

Is your classic lacquer or mica?

One good trick to lower sustain is using a hollow bar. Smaller, lightweight bars (I have both 1/2" and 9/16" sizes) are good for this too, but not everyone can hold on to them.
