On my post below about keeping an open mind I mention some players do not have a C pedal, they raise 4 a whole tone on a Knee lever along with A&B. (For 35 years I didn't even do that)
Now that dropping B>A is becoming more popular I was wondering how I could get there, so I took the C pedal:
Raised 5 B>C#
Lowered 9 D>C#
Lowered 10 B>A
Along with Pedal B G#>A right next to the new pedal C whala.. More fun to follow.
I saw Frank Carter lower his B's with pedal 0 (Day setup) so it got me to thinking.
Just worked out what I think PF is doing on Branded Man, (also using 7th string change up 1/2 tone). See I already have a use and it has only been an hour.

Don't know which pedal you are calling O but I play Day setup and I have the B's lowering on my 4th pedal. Works better for me than on an up knee. Been doing that for years being that my push pulls only have four knees, it was easy to setup. _________________ Henry Matthews

I spent about 3 months without the C pedal as an experiment, but i had to have the (E raise 1/2) on a seperate lever, so i saw no gain, i don't like stags, or more than 4 levers...
I really did enjoy the full raise on a lever though, very smooth transition on slower stuff, but a bit too much lever pumping on fast runs, so C went back on! lol _________________ A.K.A Chappy. |

I do the same thing, but I only lower string 5 and have a split tuner so when I hit my A pedal with the Bb lower, I get the C note. I also play the Day setup. I used to lower the B's to Bb on my vertical, but never used it to get the minor in the pedals down position. I only used it to get the C note for the augmented chord (E augmented) in the pedals up position. I don't use that combination very much, but do use the Bb by itself a good bit. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . My oldest PSG has only 4 levers with pull-action, pluss a vertical lever that does nothing but moves hard-stops for E strings raise and lower levers out of the way, for full tone raise or lower when vertical gets lifted about 1/4 inch.
This [ E to F ^(lift) to F# ] raise and [ E to D# ^(lift) to D ] lower arrangement gives me the action of 6 levers (for the price of four).
Broke ball-joint on a pedal on that PSG, and for 6-7 years I played it without C pedal and did not miss it for a second.
Got the C pedal back in action now of course, but hardly ever use it. The A pedal + E/^ to F# raise is what I always use, and I do miss those lever changes on other PSGs. |

I didn't use my C pedal for the first half of playing ...20 yers. I got that sound on 3 and 4 moving bar and raising 4. It was a Emmons P/P and try as I might the C pedal was never right enough to trust. Having an all pull guitar fixed all that. Having a knee lever raise for the 4th string is also cool. |

Wow, awesome post!
IS there any way you could copy this post to my thread on "Best place for a sixth knee lever" thread, and also post photo's of the undercarriage showing that changeable hard stop? |
