Some folks have commented that JERRY BYRD made his talking guitar sounds by wrapping his pinky finger around his tone control, etc., etc.

If you'll check Jerry's guitar on the JERRY's GUITARS page, one can readily see that Jerry's tone control was located right next to his right hip and not on the audience side of the guitar. Just a small point that I wanted to help clarify.

The above is probably true, but in the late 1950's the "wa wa". or the "ma ma" sound was effected by manipulating the sound control knob on the guitar.
