My old Shobud Super Pro had a cheaper Radio Shack type neck selector switch in it and it broke off. I would appreciate any advice on what type of replacement to get. I want a bit heavier type switch if possible. Also, remember that there is not alot of room in there so the full size switches will not work. I hook it up so only the back neck or front neck is on, one or the other, with no - "both on" middle position necessary. I also do not know how the "amp & volts" thing applys here, if it does at all. Any advice will be most appreciated, including where to get the best one that will work in a Super Pro. Best Regards and Thanks. Zeke

Zeke,
Your solution is an easy one. Just get a single-pole / double-throw switch, the biggest and best one that will fit in the space available. Voltage and current are not a factor with such a small signal.

Wire the guitar's output jack to the center pin of the switch, the two pickup hot wires to the other two connections, and the pickup ground wires to the guitar's metal frame and ground connection of the output jack.

That's all there is to it and you are now ready for the Opry.

Let us know how it works.

Happy Thanksgiving,

The various electronics supply places will sell them, but I suspect you'll get adequate service from a FULL SIZED Radio Shack switch. Not the miniatures.

Craig and Lane. Thanks to both of you. I think the one that broke was the miniature. A little cheapie I guess. I will try the full size and wire as per Craig's instructions. I was worried about the current - volts thing. Feel better now thanks to your help. Very much appreciated. Happy Holidays to you both as well. Now - to get my fingers in there ...

Craig was right about the volt/amp rating being irrelevant. Even a HOT pickup run hard will be hard pressed to exceed a volt, and (although I don't have a single data point to back this up, just a little knowledge from 32 years ago) I don't think it puts out anything resembling real current, I'd guess a handful of milliamps. If it exceeds 20 mA, I'd like to know, and it'd surprise the snot out of me (but this is late fall; that'd be doing me a service).
