Emg PS pickup and controls - lower price

This is a long discontinued emg pickup for pedal steel, control plate has vol, tone and what is a boost or mid contour of some kind? I hooked it up to test, but I've never had it in a guitar. Pickup has one bar magnet, might be a single coil?

Good for a project or someone wanting a out if the ordinary sound.
