I tried to find via "search mode" if there is a kit available to convert my B/W 15" speaker to Neo Magnet type speaker to reduce the weight.
Also if this is not possible, what speaker on the market in a Lite-weight Neo configuration best resembles the B/W with regard to tone or sound?
I believe Sica and Telonics are available. What are other using and why?
I split my Nashville 400 cabinet and looking to further lighten the load.

The Eminence EPS-15c is another option. Forum member Kevin Hatton sells them. I use it with my Nashville 400, and I'm really happy with it. |

I finally found other post related to changing the heavier mags on the 1501 for a Neo type mag. it appears the minimal weight saving and tonal difference doesn't justify the cost.
Anyone put a 15" Telonic in their NV400?

The Eminence EPS-15C is just over 7 lbs. It was designed to be an exact replacement for the stock 1501-4 BW speaker. |

Chuck, if your interested, I have a new in the box 15" SICA speaker.
I bought this for my NV-1000 but sold the amp before I installed it.
I'd sell it for $180 including shipping and paypal charges......Carl _________________ aka "Lucky Kay"--Custom built Rittenberry SD10 3X5, Walker S/S, NV-112, and Hilton Pedal |

Jack > I just got a price from Kevin H. on that speaker. I am considering it.
Carl > I had the 12" version in a speaker cabinet but sold it as I didn't like the tone...thanks for the offer
All > I also got a price from Shopie from Telonics on their new speaker and I'm considering that speaker.
For me the issues when reading reviews and opinions from fellow steeler's who have tried the various speakers available seem to always use different terms to describe their objective opinions. Too bad there is not a speaker exchange to make available speakers for trial runs _________________ 2010 Rains 3x5 SD10, 2006 Rains 3x5 SD10 Powered by Quilter Tone Block 202 and 15' and 12' Custom Speaker cabs |

Thanks Jack....diffidently the Eminence has the better sound.
I'd like to find a file which included the ESP-15c with the NV 400 and a file with a Telonics in a NV400.
Thanks again

The preamp in the NV112, which I used, and the NV1000 are basically identical to the preamp in a NV400 that has the factory tone mod.
I've had a NV400 (with the factory mod), a NV1000 and a NV112. I set the EQ identical in all 3.
The differences in the amps is the power amplifier section (and the speaker in the NV112). |

Chuck...I split my Nashville 400 like you. All I did was contact Peavey's U.K. branch and bought a Neo magnet. Took about 5 minutes to remove the original heavy magnet off the B/W speaker and fit the Neo magnet. No change in the tone, as the "Basket" does all that

Micky what is the weight savings? Did you check the difference in the weight of the two magnets?
Thanks

Chuck...when I removed the old heavy magnet and before I installed the Neo to the basket, you could feel the difference in weight. Those old B/W magnets were sooooo heavy. Now with the Neo in the split cab, you can really feel the difference...it's got to be about 6 or 7 pounds lighter. May not sound like alot, but it certainly makes life easier. I just noticed we have the same amps

This thread has me contemplating shedding 10 lbs of weight from my NV1000 by swapping the BW 1501 with a SICA from my Super Twin amp. Adding 10 more lbs. to the Fender will make it the heaviest amp I have, but the Peavey is what I actually lug around in a road case on casters. |

Considering the cost of a Peavey Neo magnet, and the little weight it lobs off, a full neo magnet speaker is the way to go.
I tried one of the Peavey neo magnets in my NV1000 and the reduction in weight wasn't enough to justify its cost. I wound up putting the regular magnet back on and selling the neo magnet. |
