I am trying to sell this 10 string dobro for a lady whose husband passed away. I don't know the year but it is pretty old. For the age of it it is in excellent shape. She wants $800.00 for it . Her husband paid much more for it. I will try to upload some pictures

.

Wiessenben said it is a 1978, and looking at the tuning keys I am sure.

Why hasn't this sold? Is there something I don't know about 70's made Dobros? I thought it was going to get snatched up at $1,000, and now for $800? Not that I've seen every guitar in the world, but I've never seen another one of these. If I didn't already have a resonator I'd never part with, I would have bought this at $1,000. What am I missing?

Sales isn't always about just the price, it's solving the need of a particular person/s at a particular time of need. When you align those 2 together, a sale will usually occur.

Im baffled myself that this is still here! There cant be many of these around!!! I remember reading something about Weldon Myrick having a ten string years ago. Im not even sure that this was a regular production model. Maybe a custom order only, even though it was in their catalog... Someone should buy it for me and my forthcoming museum!!! I hope it sells. They're kind of oddball. Don't sound as bold as 6s or 8s

Yes, I understand. That is the same reason that the Franklin Ped-A-Bro utilizes a D9 tuning instead of E9. It removes a bit of pressure off of the cone.

Perhaps different string gauges or tuning down to Bb6 might be an option.

This guitar is still available. The guitar was made to accommodate the ten strings. There should be no problem with the spider handling them.

I've built a few 10's. Not as rare as many think, but certainly they were a custom order. The spider handles the extra pressure fine.

I just got finished cleaning and polishing the guitar. I put a new set of C6 strings on it and it sounds very good. There is no problem with it handeling the 10 strings. Still for sale.

The string spacing is . At the nut from thenth string to first the over all spacing is 2& 9/16. At the bridge it is 2&13/16. The spacing on my Mullen is at the nut 2&1/2 at the bridge 3&1/16.
