A few weeks ago, there were a couple discussions on here like "so, what do I do with this lever?" or "do I lose anything by combining these two changes?"
So the next Monday, bearing in mind Frank Zappa's words¹, I sat down at my guitar and shot a video or three
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sn1IY1E-uKU and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9aEyTaD3YA and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdfmMfzvcI4

I think this approach makes more sense than trying to type what I had to say.
If they're good ideas, but need something like better angles and the like, I'd like to know that, too.

Well, you asked for it. Smile Just kidding.

I would suggest a better camera angle to show your knee lever action. You are, after all, explaining knee lever moves. A split screen might work best...one like you have now, and one facing the front to show leg movements. It's kinda hard to follow what you are explaining and what you legs are doing. (I don't know anything about video on You tube. though.)

The more instruction out there, the better. Every instructor has a little different take on explanations. And that's good for everyone.

I'd also suggest doing a couple dry run videos, taking notes, then watch them and critique yourself, to make sure you are covering everything the way you intend to.

at the moment, Mike, I have no tools to make a split screen. Just me, a camera, a steel, a tripod and a Twin in the next room.
I like your idea of watching it and reshooting it, which I did on the D# lever one.
I'll pay better attention to camera angles, getting the levers in the frame.

Good stuff, Lane, thanks! I tend to lift my left foot off the ground hitting that vertical, I'm gonna try your way...

I cant tell for sure are you splitting that vertical with your A-pedal, looks like it to me on that walk-down?

Good stuff. Most of us can play, at different levels, but its cool to see these little snippets showing different takes on one given change. And, you know, I see your face, and I think, "well, see---It could be worse..."
Kiddin' ya, dude. If I can't learn a little something new, I quit.

There's good information in your videos, and I prefer them only minimally rehearsed, it allows you to free-flow with your thoughts.

If you have enough time, it would be of benefit to people who are wary of tinkering with the mechanics of their steel if you could turn your steel over and show things like how overtuning the nylons can cause problems, how not enough slack in the rods etc, how to adjust pedal/knee lever travel etc, just general problems that crop up regularly.

Keep em coming Very Happy

Good stuff. It would be better to see the knee lever movement but it's easily enough understood with the explanation given. It's good of you to take the time to do this.

Lane, keep it up, any information to a struggling student is worthy! And I find myself struggling with different material at times, even though I've been playing for a long time. I think your input on various subject is good and remember the old saying, "A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words".

Lane, from reading many of your posts over time its obvious that you have a vast amount of knowledge and more then that the ability to explain it, and apparently the desire to share it...not too fast though, cause I'm a little slow and more visual then verbal...You played some beautiful things in these videos that made me go huhmmmm!!!
