Local shop has a 50's Oahu Tonemaster that sounds great, but I really want to do some C6 work on a lap steel. Is this tuning doable with this guitar, in regards to tension? Or is an A6 more appropriate? What are the options?

C6th tuning will be fine on that guitar as long as you use the appropriate string gauges. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

I have been using mine in C6th lately and I love it. I always thought of it more suited for open E, but it sounds great! I use a standard C6th set but I use a .014 for the high E, .017 for the C, and a .020 for the A. The wound strings are the standard sizes that come with a C6th set (.024,.030, and .036 I believe) _________________ "Don't be mad honey, but I bought another one" |
