First time assembling a pedal steel.
First, I cant figure out how to connect the rods to the pedals (See picture below) What am I missing? I'm not very mechanical, but it looks like something is missing.
Second, the third pedal rod is bent at a 45 degree angle. Possible to repair, or should I replace it? How hard is it to find a replacement?
Thanks in advance.

Here's a video on assembling a Carter starter. Just watch, it should help you out. If I had to guess, you are not pulling the round clip on the rods down to expose the hole that clips onto the bolts of the pedals.

I'd try straightening it first.
James Morehead should have replacements. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Bret,
You can go here and download a manual for your Sho-Bud. Don't expect much - they are very basic, but it might have some info you can use:
http://steelguitar.com/manuals.html
If you are not sure which model you have (or which manual comes closest), post a pic of the underbody of the guitar and someone will tell you.

Thanks for the help. The rod bent back (mostly)into shape...I will see how tuning goes. I'll get there one way or another. |
