Was watching a documentary on The Eagles the other night and almost every stage shot, there was a D-10 steel sitting on stage but never anyone sitting behind it. Did one of the Eagles band members play or was it someone else?

The early Eagles featured Bernie Leadon on steel (Best of My Love, etc.) as well as banjo and lead guitar. The Sho-Bud I believe belonged to Don Felder who played mostly guitar and sang backup. If you spot a guy in a flannel shirt playing an orange Gretsch '6120', that is most likely Don.

Thanks David, I didn't see anyone ever sitting at it so could have been one of the other guitar players and I believe it was a ShoBud

don felder. i've got a picture of that steel somewhere. it looked like a black sho-bud super pro with an eagle inlay in the front.
...playing with no picks. hard to hear him on that tune except the slide at the end.
great band though. henley's drumming and tim's bass are always sensitive. so what if their egomaniacal rants and rages have threatened to destroy the band over and over.

i could do without the string section.

I saw one of their specials awhile back.Don Felder was playing steel. There are 3 steel tunes on "On The Border"-Bernie on "My Man" and "Best of My Love",Al Perkins on "Ol'55".

Here's an Eagles what-if......J.D.Souther and Sneaky Pete added to the original lineup instead of Felder. Idea

i think sneaky's weird tone would have held them back. felder played some great guitar solos.

When I was Sho-Bud Product Mgr, with Gretsch, we built a D-10 guitar for Don Felder, & yes it did have an eagle inlay on the front! Regards!
