So my NV400 started breaking up, I changed pedals, cord from the pedal, cord to the amp. It continued to cut in and out.
I guess I need to take the amp out of the cabinet and send it to Peavey. Can anyone tell me if there is a special procedures I'll need to go thru to get the diagnostics and repairs completed?
Or any ideas as to what I might check before committing to a Peavey visit?
Thanks in advance ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ 2010 Rains 3x5 SD10, 2006 Rains 3x5 SD10 Powered by Quilter Tone Block 202 and 15' and 12' Custom Speaker cabs |

Thanks Ken. I did a search and didn't get a chance to read them all yet. This might help.
I've was thinking just the other day and actually posted on the subject of getting back to using my NV400 and doing split cabs and now this problem.
I'll try the suggestions from the link when I get home this evening.

Well last nite I tinkered with three different area on my amp.
1. removed a double 1/4 female jack that was installed by the previous owner.
2. removed the speaker cable mod that had a 1/4 male that allowed for connecting the on board speaker and re-connected the speaker in the conventional manner.
3. disconnected and reconnected the molex connectors from the reverb tank, as well as, the connector from the chassis to the speaker.
Somewhere during the process I think I fixed my "cut out issue".
I let it set turned on cooking for an hour and then played for another 1/2 hour with no "cut outs"
Keeping my fingers crossed the issue doesn't rear it ugly head again. _________________ 2010 Rains 3x5 SD10, 2006 Rains 3x5 SD10 Powered by Quilter Tone Block 202 and 15' and 12' Custom Speaker cabs |

If yours has a Molex connector for the speaker connections, Peavey discontinued that because of problems and soldered wires directly to the Molex Pins on the chassis. I don't know if they still do it, but at one time if a NV400 with the Molex connector was sent to the factory repair center, they soldered wires to the pins as part of the repair. |

Yes Jack my amp has white moles connector going to the bottom of the chassis like the connector from the reverb pan, with the exception of the number of pins.
Not sure if anything I did cured the problem

That Molex connector can become intermittent or lose contact just like the Reverb connector.
Best to get rid of it and solder wires directly to the chassis contacts (where the Molex connector plugs into). Use 16 ga wire. |

Thanks Jack, if starts to cut out again I'll try that before moving forward. _________________ 2010 Rains 3x5 SD10, 2006 Rains 3x5 SD10 Powered by Quilter Tone Block 202 and 15' and 12' Custom Speaker cabs |
