Rickenbacker made a doubleneck 8-string with a steel body and Bakelite necks. I've seen many.

Did they ever make a doubleneck 6-string with Bakelite necks?

Yes, the D-12 and DC-12. They seem to be a lot less common than the D8 versions, the D-16 and DC-16.

In the early 50s, in a club in Boston, I saw an old Hawaiian guy playing a D-6 "all bakelite" steel !! It was big and thick with the outside neck raised up and looked real heavy but was a solid sounding steel . I often wonder what happened to that old guitar !!?? the olde geezer AKA Eddie "C"
