Can anyone refer me to where I can get MSA parts. I am restoring a SuperSustain 2 and will need rods, etc.
I've been playing guitar for over 55 years but new to pedal steel. Any suggestions greatly appeciated |

Either Tom Bradshaw or Jim Palenscar
Tom: www.songwriter.com/bbradshaw.html
Jim: www.steel guitars.me
Jim is south of LA, Tom is in the East Bay area. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects |

Since you're new at this, I'd (gently) suggest you get some guidance. Are you sure it needs restoring and additions? What are you lacking now, and why have you chosen to take this task on? I don't mean to offend, but I have seen a lot of guitars messed up by would-be mechanics "just trying to make things better". |

For that matter, the rods that came with the guitar shouldn't need replacement. That guitar was built with stainless steel rods, much more durable than the aluminum common today (a minor part in their increased heft, but worth it, IMO).
Should they have accumulated some grunge and galvanic corrosion, that stuff comes off with a bit of elbow grease (I got a collection of pull rods free because they were gunged up: 29 stainless and 8 aluminum. 90 minutes of work and they gleamed like new).
If rods are missing, then replace them, of course.
Those things were built to last, which is why so many have. So were their parts. Except a few bellcranks with wallowed-out holes and bits of nylon, I've not seen much worn out on an MSA. Just bits that need elbow grease. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
