I just got word that Tommy Wells, Nashville session drummer has passed away. I don't know any further details at this time.

Tommy was found in his hotel room in FT Wayne IN this morning...apparently he had passed away in his sleep.Tommy was loved by everyone who knew and worked with him and the Nashville music community is devastated by this...nobody played better than Tommy, and he was a joy to be around...rest in peace,Tommy.

Just worked with Tommy a couple weeks ago. A great player and person. And very helpful with guys like me that don't work in the studio everyday. Very possibly the best drummer I was privileged to work with. What a shock. Rest well my friend.

As a producer, Tommy was one of my first calls. If he wasn’t available, I would move my session date to match his schedule. He was a great drummer and musician, and a warm wonderful guy. He will be sorely missed. My condolence’s to his family.

Still in shock over this. A photo from the last session I did with Tommy. Just a week before his death.
