Topic: Fender Roc Pro 1000 for pedal steel? |

One selling locally for a good price. Hard to find much info on these; about 70 watts, the clean channel is solid state. Apparently they are very loud and sound quite "Fendery" in the clean channel.
Has anyone had any experience with these?
(Yes, it is "Roc" Pro, and not "Rock" Pro).

Michael, I use a ROC PRO 700 w/70 watts for all my gigs
and it is a fine amp. I do use the Pod HD desktop in front of it. I paid 100 bucks for the amp 4 years ago, and its been a very good, lightweight & very dependable amp.

Thanks for the response. What amp model do you use in the Pod HD Desktop in front of the amp? Do you plug into the front jack, or into the effects return?
Or do you use the HD Desktop for effects only?

I use the front jack and created my own models using:
BF `LUX VIB PRE for rock, blues or string section
BF BOUBLE NRM PRE for country mainly
Heres a example of my favorite settings I seem to always use, keep in mind I named them: This one sounds Great on the PSG I use the tweak to adjust the overdrive, and the pitch is for open mic nights where guys or gals drop a half step, thats a nice thing to have setup only because you can just shut it off if you play a normal scaled
This is the one I use for country (the lower 2 pics)
If you need parameter settings let me know.

Thanks for the great info. I normally have my steel straight into the amp, although I have been toying with putting it through my Pod HD 400 (which is a bit different from the HD Desktop, but they have the same models).
I'm looking for an amp that will sound good with the steel straight into it, at a reasonable price as I am not working (day job) at the moment. This one just popped up on Kijiji for a good price.

When I bought this 700, I was new to steel and used it to learn on, I have forgotten the tone it delivers straight in, It`s fabulous for a lead 6 string straight in.
I`ll give it a try straight in w/no gadgets or buffers, Just using the 2 button floor switch that came with it & a V.P. and see if my ear has changed, I do remember that switching between Psg`s , the tone was distinctly different from one to another, MUCH more than my vegas 400 by far, I saw a huge difference that anyone could recognize,
I`ll get back to you after I research it straight in using a couple different PSG`s .

Just played it on my Emmons, So far I see no reason why I actually thought I needed more devices, It sounds great, I`ll try my really bright sierra next, That may be a tone issue because I have a Danny Shields crap trap in it, We`ll see.
2nd edit:
I cant believe I never tried this straight in, The Sierra actually sounds better to me.
Well Michael I am dumbfouned by this,
Final thought: Its a very acceptable amp, straight in

Isn't it fun to experiment?!?!
Well, I just found out my dog needs ACL surgery, which is about the cost of 20 Fender Roc Pro amps. I guess I won't be buying this amp anytime soon. 
But thanks for all of the good input, and keep having fun!

These are fine amps, very underrated. Workable tone and clean sound volume. IF you can find one for $100 grab it !
