I attended the Opry Saturday night, September 21. Tommy White was unbelievable!! I thought the highlight was Tommy's playing on Hanging Around and Swingdown Sweet Chariot -- the Whites sang these two songs, but Tommy stole the show. He had some amazing fast bar moves and his footwork was constant pedals and levers. I think it is safe to say Tommy has total command of the PSG. His monitor was to his right front, his amp to his left. Behind him he had a rack with three different devices. Not sure what they were but one may have been a tuner as I saw him looking at it when he was tuning his levers/pedals. His sound his impressive!!!! Not sure the name of his double neck PSG as I was sitting in the balcony, it was red but the lighting there plays tricks with colors.

I'm sure Tommy was playing a Show-Pro. Your assessment of Tommy's playing is spot on. Not only does he have total command of the guitar, he plays with so much feeling. And, he's a genuinely nice guy.

Thanks Roger, good to know that he is a friendly approachable player. Chet Atkins was the total package too. I have met and talked with Chet at CAAS several times and he would actually show a lick and answer questions. I am happy to hear that Tommy also is in that caliber. We need more musicians like that for sure. Hard to believe that Chet has been gone 12 years.

Not sure if y'all knew this, but Tommy White played steel on a song called "The Little Girl" by John Michael Montgomery. I met Tommy at the Opry in 2000-great friend and great player, an inspiration to not just me, but many other steel players too.

I believe the photo just posted by Jeff was taken at the Opry -- the same red PSG, amp to Tommy's left, the rack in the back. Thanks Jeff for the picture. Gary Cooper

Gary I think that rack behind him his a bank of Webb amps in a rack - so other steel players can preset their amp before a show and then just plug in when they get on the stage ??
