What is the deal with video cameras at certain events? Why are venues so against recording some of their venue? I've even noticed that some of the seminars won't let you video record the seminar. HUH???
I have a country music show that has been open for 21 years now and I encourage video recording. Show it to everyone, post it on YouTube, I don't care what they do with it.
Am I missing something here?

The people giving seminars see taping as taking taters off their plate. I tend to think that their point gets eclipsed by the value of said tapes as ads for future sales. I know I'd pay Mickey Adams for lessons after seeing his youtubes.
Often it's a PRO stipulation regarding the venues, ASCAP tells them to nix taping or it will jeopardize their license.
And some players don't want folks seeing what they play: Roy Buchanan would sometimes turn his back to the audience to hide his licks.

Well said Lane...It's hard to be private when doing something in public also, i agree who cares, but... i can understand an artist not wanting live/windblown/camera phone type advertising on U-tube, some of it is terrible.

Some people don't know how not to be obnoxious when recording. I can still remember going to one steel jam and seeing probably a dozen people with video cameras crowded around the player in front of the stage. So please, if you must record something, don't spoil it for everyone else in the process. Oh Well

If a video of the Band ever got out we could lose all our bookings.
