I'm starting a new thing: a sort of video-blog of my playing. I think there's too much stuff on the internet, so I'm cutting down the amount of video of myself. Some of my clips are gonna be online for a while, but also I'll be posting a clip that will only be online for 1 week.
If you don't like the idea, well just disregard...
If you do, leave a comment here and "follow" this post, or subscribe to my YT channel.
Greetings, Jan

#1 makes room for #2... This week something that's not been done enough on steel I think: the blues. This is a request from Jean-Jacques Bellenger. It's an impro over a standard 12-bar blues in E, backing track is from a YouTube video (watch?v=hVGaZWLhzEM), it's 10 times 12 bars. I first play 5x E9 then 5x C6, divided in 2 times non-pedal and 3 times pedal.

Comments welcome as always. I consider every request too.

the blues video is right here

This week's post comes with a story. Someone told me a few months ago that my playing made him think of 'Sneaky' Pete Kleinow's playing.
At that time I didn't know the man very well, so I did my homework. So this week, I did something that has to do with his repertoire: Stevie Wonder. Hope you like it: Sir Duke

My lovely wife gave my one of my favorite albums as a gift, I didn't have it on vinyl yet: Acadie from the great Daniel Lanois. So, messing around with the lap and a loop station, I decided to do a cover version of "The Maker", it's is on that album. Episode 4 of the weekly clip series.

And another one with lap & loop: Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight". Episode 5 of the weekly clip series.

Episode 6...

The great Jerry Douglas released an evenly great album last year (Traveller) which contains Chick Corea’s title “Spain”. Thought I’d give that a try also, on dobro (Am9 tuning) as well as C6 pedal steel. Of course no comparisation to the Master, as he is playing top class instruments, with good mics and equivalent effects, overdubbed (at least) three times,... he also uses a lot more open strings. Youtube: Spain
