We all know Laney as the sweetheart of the Steel Guitar and have enjoyed her songs on CD’s and at steel shows all over the world, but singing an Irish song which she wrote? When Charlie McCoy, the greatest harmonica player in the world decided to do a project and feature artists which included a mix of International singers and musicians who have worked with him over the years of his highly acclaimed career, he asked Laney to write a song and sing it on his new CD project. This is entirely different from anything she has done in the past and demonstrates her talent as both a singer and songwriter. As if we needed more proof after The Nameless Shuffle (A love Like This). All songs on the CD have an Irish tone and are written by the artists performing them, along with Charlie's signature harmonica fills intertwined. The project is almost complete. The melody and acoustic guitar is by Russ Hicks and the lyrics and vocal by Laney. The song is titled, “If You Cared For Me”. The song has been retained by a company in charge of placing songs in Hollywood movies. Don’t be surprised to hear the song in a Movie in the future, it’s that good. To hear a sample which is most of the song, go to their web site www.russandlaney.com then, click on "news", then "New Charlie McCoy Project", and then click on the song, "If You Cared For Me". Let me know what you think. All of us can play critic. As for me, I give it a big two thumbs up, but then I’m just a tad partial. I love both of them.

Reminds me of that old John Wayne movie, "The Quiet Man". Too bad Laney wasn't around then to sing the song for that film. It would have been a nice touch.
