"Marian McPartland, the genteel Englishwoman who became a fixture
of the American jazz scene as a pianist and, later in life, hosted the
internationally syndicated and immensely popular public radio show
“Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz,†died on Tuesday at her home in
Port Washington, N.Y. She was 95."

It just broke my heart hearing this earlier today, what an awesome and wonderful lady, her show has been one of my constant listening and learning pleasures every weekend for decades. At least she got in a very full life, bless her, and I think NPR will continue running the repeats, she deserves that for sure.

Unless our local stations keep broadcasting reruns, there's almost no reason to turn on the radio any more.  |
