Just received very bad news this morning that Makiko Fujii Fuller has passed away in Orlando, Fl. She has been in the hospital a few days. No information on the cause at this time. Mitsuo called me early this morning and asked me to find out about Makiko. Shortly after that call, Makiko's husband, Steve, called me with the bad news. I have been in touch with Mitsuo about this terrible news. Mitsuo had been in Orlando visiting and is now just back in Japan a few days ago. No other details about this at this time.

What?? Oh my God, I'm so sorry to hear this news. She was in her prime of life, so full of energy and enthusiasm when I met her in St Louis last year. How devastating for Mitsuo and family.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Makiko Fujii Fuller’s passing. She was such a delight to see every year in St. Louis. We spent many years exchanging little gifts as is the Japanese tradition. Last year she showed me her wedding pictures and she told me she and her husband Steve were going to try for a baby. She was so happy and looking forward to the future. My heart breaks for her husband as well as for Mitsuo and her whole family. God Bless You, my friend! You will be missed.

This news is so difficult to accept. Sandra and I thought so much of her.
Such a caring and enthusiastic young lady.
I have known her a number of years from the Excel booth in St Louis and Sandra and I got to know her a lot better a couple of years ago at Bill and Betty Stafford’s, during the DSSG show. She was so full of fun and energy and willing to accept anyone as a new friend.
Sandra and I have stayed in touch with Makiko by email and FB and always looked forward to her next humorous or beautiful post. We will miss her very much.
We extend our deepest condolences to Steve, Mitsuo and the remainder of her family and friends.
May she rest in Peace.
Ray and Sandra

I have only known Mitsuo by way of the 5 Excel guitars I have owned, all of which were outstanding. My deepest sympathies to you and your family, Mitsuo.

Received news about Makiko today from her husband Steve and Mitsuo. They are still in Florida. Decisions have been made to be able to take Makiko home to Japan as she has been cremated. Flying back to Japan tomorrow so her family there can have the ceremony desired for Makiko. This has been such a great ordeal for Mitsuo and all in his wonderful family. Steve will be flying with Mitsuo. I am glad for that. Wishing lots of comfort and condolences for all in this devastating time for the Fujii and Fuller families.

Bill, I haven't been on the forum in a long time. I still miss everyone and miss Roy every day.

I am so sorry to hear about Mitsuo's daughter. She was so beautiful and her personality was so warm.

When I, with your help ordered Roy's steel guitar from him and bought it to the convention she bought me some gifts which I still treasure today.

Bill, please tell him I am thinking about him and his family. I know his heart is breaking as I lost a 24 year old son too.

I don't know what to say to him but I will pray for them.

I pray you and Betty are doing ok. Things here are not well. I don't have time for anything any more and I will never get over missing Roy.

My love to you both,
Your old friend,
Laurie

Laurie, I will relay your lovely message to Mitsuo Fjuii and family. Wish you could have heard Mitsuo play "Green Green Grass of Home" at our Gulfport Steel Show in honor of his lovely daughter's memory with her favorite song. It was the best I have ever heard any steel guitarist, and I repeat, ANY, steel guitarist play this song. After it was over, Mitsuo quickly left the stage and stayed in the rest room a while to compose himself. This was a song really played from a broken heart. Mitsuo is doing quite well and handling this situation better than most of us could, I imagine. Thank you for your sentiments and condolences to the family.
