Im sure this has been asked many times, yet i cannot find it here. Where does one find, get, obtain, backing music to play to? What ever song id like to try to play to, the backing music, bass, etc.? Im totally new here, and just got a psg. Ive got to figure this carburetor of a guitar out....lol, and start learning to play. Quite different than my 6 strings, but with the sound...oh im in love.
thanks all

There are thousands of karaoke song tracks on youtube, all backing and no melody. That's a good place to start...and it's also free! |

Band-in-a-Box is a great program to make your own backing tracks on your computer. |

I have a piece of software called ChordPulse (http://www.chordpulse.com/index.html).
I paid $25 for it, and I like it. It's fairly easy to learn, and point, click and drag to add chords and duration. After you have the chords in, you can tinker with the mixer to set the levels on drums, bass, and other instruments.
You can export to a midi file, or just play it with your computer.
I use "Free Midi to MP3 Converter" to convert the midi to a mp3.

If you want to hear a mp3 sample, PM or email me and I'll send you one. _________________ Amateur Radio Operator NA4IT (Extra)

The best tracks I find are tracks from all the latest CD,s of Hughey,Randy Beaver, HalRugg, Mike Johnson Herbie Wallace, bobbe Seymour et al. These guys got smart, and sell (sold) Jean, Hughey's wife sttill sells his recordings and tracks.
I have 3 CD players that hold 300 CDs each.... odd # slot is for the recording of the artist even # slot is for the sound track. With a remote at my steel guitar I can shoot back and forth shoot from the recording to the sound track so I can try to dupicate licks I am tying to learn.
If invited to a show I will record myself- usually 15 to 20 songs in case someone plays one of my songs I can courteously avoid duplicating any of their songs
Simply connect your CD player into yor PA and plug your steel guitar into another channel or just mike your steel into the second channel. Not unusual for me to sit at my steel 3 or 4 hours |

I just use YouTube, and if volume is an issue, I plug the headphones jack directly into a Pocket Rock-it (there are other, better variations) along with my guitar so I can hear myself and the backing track at the same time.
PS -- late welcome from another Mississippi steeler. Got a lot of friends in the Hub City. _________________ Click here for the Index to Mickey Adams's YouTube video lessons
