That's an interesting set of strings. The gauges appear to run from .013 (top) to .056) bottom - a bit thin for most dobro players preferences using open G tuning, but perfectly fine for open E tuning (among others). _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Why not indeed. I agree ... open E, E7th ... no problem. _________________ Steel Guitar Books! Website: www.volkmediabooks.com |

Andy did write "steel," not dobro. Buy a set and tell us what you think.
I've been wanting to order some of these strings to put on my Martin but I have several other sets here to go through first. _________________ Mark |

Monel is a very hard material? Remember my dad told me when he was in the Navy
WWII that he made a ring out of monel in the machine shop. Havn't heard monel mentioned in many years. |

Gibson used to sell a monel set. And that's what they used to put on electric guitars. For Dobro 'G' tuning. Give the .013 to somebody. That .016 will be your new first string. Buy a .017, which will be your new second string. A lot of places (Mom and Pop's Guitar and Barbeque Shop---not the big guys) will swap you a .017 for a .013. That's for dobro G, and I believe the same as D'addario's reso set, J 42.
If you can find 'em, old-style Black Diamonds sound great on a dobro and pretty good on a lap steel. |
