I love my Mullen RP SD12, however the LKR and RKR have worked themselves so loose they're pretty much flapping in the breeze.
They are still fixed tightly to the body of the guitar, but they're loose at the brass fixing you can see in the picture.
Can someone please let me know the best way to tighten this? There is an Allan key / hex head screw to one side, on the other side there's a brass fixing with a threaded hole in it.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You should be ablr to turn the allen screw a lttle bit
clock wise. Only a fraction at a time while moving the
knee lever till you get it where you want it. Very easy. _________________ aka "Lucky Kay"--Custom built Rittenberry SD10 3X5, Walker S/S, NV-112, and Hilton Pedal |

I would remove the wood screws that hold down the entire bracket/lever assembly. Take the whole thing out and look it over closely. You should be able to find the problem. My first impression is that the brass part is intended to be a bushing for the lever. The screw that goes into it probably is intended to be very tight. The bushing itself is probably slightly longer than the thickness of the lever. Just enough to allow movement without a lot of play. That's what it looks like to me, anyway. Remove the whole thing and you will be able to see how it works. |

Check with Mike Mantey, at Mullen, or Mickey Adams. They will tell you what size bolt fits in the brass piece. I had that issue several years ago and Mike told me how to fix it.
As I recall, you screw the bolt in to the brass piece and then tighten the other side. _________________ Lee, from South Texas - Down On The Rio Grande

Thanks for the replies,
Lee, I ended up rummaging through all my nuts and bolts and found one with the same thread as the brass component, removed the KL from the guitar and tightened it up. It's not easy, and although I am a fan of the Mullen guitar this particular idea is something that can be improved.....IMHO.

They can be tricky to tighten without the correct tools. They are assembled and tightened with red Loctite, so they are not supposed to be able to loosen.
On the one side you will see the allen head cap screw that holds it together. The other side that you can see in your picture is designed to have a screw inserted as illustrated in my picture. The screw has nuts to stop it and only allow it to be inserted about 4 threads. Then while holding the 2 nuts on the screw with a wrench you tighten the allen cap screw. It should be tightened all the way, due to very close tolerances here you can swell the brass if you really tighten it too hard, but snug plus a little extra and you should be fine. Then you just remove the extra screw or can keep it in there too, won't hurt nothing. If it keeps loosening you will have to apply more Loctite or maybe super glue might work? The threads inside are 10-32. I hope this makes sense.
