I just received the Silverplated Aiersi Copper Tri-Cone Resonator Guitar DG-04BC
which I ordered from Devon Zhu in China.
http://www.aiersiguitar.com/Products/Resonator_Guitar/Resonator_Guitar/2012/0823/809.html
I must say I am really impressed with both the guitar and the service I received from this company.
The communication and transaction went without a hitch and
the guitar arrived undamaged (well packed) via Fedex in less than 16 days!
The price (only $580) included a hard foam case and the shipping to South Africa.
I did not have to pay any custom duties.

The guitar itself is a work of art, I cannot believe this is hand made.
The body finish is spotless and the neck looks as good as any good guitar.
The sound of the tricone is much better than expected.
I am used to Fender resonators (spider and biscuit) but this one surpasses them in a big way.
I must admit that I never heard an American vintage tricone "live",
so my judgement is based on the Fenders and a Johnsson resonator.
Anyway, this guitar really sings!

I am really glad I trusted this supplier and went ahead with the order.
Thank you so much Devon Zhu from China! ( sinomusik@gmail.com )

Did you get a round neck guitar? Are you planning on playing it lap style?
I'm glad to hear your transaction went well. I hope you get much satisfaction out of finding all the music hiding in that guitar! _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Thanks, Brad.
Yes I got a round neck guitar and the first thing I did was to install a nut raiser to play it as a lap steel.
It also has a slotted head so I will switch the tuners (3-on-a-plate) so the tuner knobs are facing up.
The strings are suitable for open D, which means that I can keep my Fender in open G (and not retune that one to open D). _________________ 1977 Sho~Bud D10 ProIII Custom; Sho~Bud SD10 The Professional ; ETS S10 5x5;

It is interesting that no maker, from National in California to the guitar makers in China, wishes to replicate the back mold of the original 1920's guitars. Perhaps Devon can expand on that idea. _________________ Don't go in the water after lunch. You'll get a cramp and drown. - Mother. |

What are you saying there, David? I'm not familiar enough with the original 1920's guitars to know what you're talking about. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

The back of the old Tricones like my 1929 style 1 were pressed like the mold of the back of an F hole arch-top guitar. The back of new National Reso I had was plain. Devon's guitars hint at the shape with the pressing of the back, but it is not the same. Of course there have been a few other small changes in the new guitars too. Generally, they have better necks than the old guitars. _________________ Don't go in the water after lunch. You'll get a cramp and drown. - Mother. |
