Hey my forum bro`s, I’m here in Waterloo, Ontario, and soon to set off and drink all those coffees you lot have promised me.
Here’s my itinerary for the month (if I tuff it). I’m hoping you’ll check the dates and places I’ll be stopping by and drop me an email at
jd@pedalsteelguitar.co.uk to let me know if you’ll be available for a quick visit.
I'll be starting out in Cobourg, Ontario on Sept 5th; then Montpelier VT,on the 6th; Baldwinville Mass,on the 7th then hopefully to the Rhode Island Steel do on the 10th. Then on to Chambersburg PA, on the 12th; Louisville KY,on the 13th; London KY on the 14th; then Nashville, on the 15th; Montgomery AL, on the 17th; Pensacola FL,on the 18th; Baton Rouge LA, later on the 18th; Houston TX, on the 19th; San Antonio, TX, on 21st; Dallas TX, on the 23rd; Oklahoma City, on the 25th; St. Louis MO, on the 26th, then up to Lansing MI, on the 27th. All of these dates are tentative and based on how the trip goes on and how I do with the driving which comes to about 4900+ plus miles by the time I'm done.
I’ll have a steel and some gear if anyone has a gig or some BIAB set up. Hope to hear from you!!
Cheers!
John Davis
If you see a Maroon coloured Ford comin your way on the wrong side of the road>> please cut me some slack cos I`m British!!

Hello John, I have an idea, if I can, I'll try and get my fellow local steelers Ron Bryson and Jeff Sconyers lined up on or about the 18th and we'll make a evening of jamming and coffee! Ron has BIAB and I have plenty of tracks CD's. It's a good time just waiting to happen.
See you soon my friend.

John, those pedals were sent off today..
As an ambassador for UK steelies, I know that you can convince the ex "Colonies" that there really are Steel Guitarists in this part of the world !!
And explain why we say "Emmons or Huntley" and not Emmons or Day, for pedal set-up. LOL

Hey John Davis--if you need to place to stay on the 16th, I've got a room for you to save some $$. Are you still picking up my old '68 Emmons from Tommy Cass? The '79 Zum is set up and ready to jam... |

Baz, Thanks for sending the pedals, I am sure they will get here soon.....
And all you other guys Thanks for the kindness and hospitality that you have shown this weary (knackered) traveller
I think I am going to have to revise my plans a little bit this country is huge and Texas seems a heck of a long way off at the moment.... but if I don`t make it down there this time... when I get home to uk I`m thinking of getting on another plane direct to Texas and start working my way back up!! Will try to keep you posted but computer access is limited here |

Hi John
Glad to hear you made it to PA safely. Nice talking to you at the RI Show Sunday. You played great, glad you got to play this year. It was my first time playing also. I played the red Carter D10 with the shakey volume pedal. Enjoy the rest of your journey.

Thanks for the kind words Chuck, I just got into Louiville after spending a couple of days with Greg Jones down in Renfro Valley what a great show they have there whether its Country ,Bluegrass or gospel the standard is simply amazing, the owners are two of the nicest people I have ever met, and the musical director Ms.Pam Perry is an incredible talent (thought her mandolin was gonna catch fire pickin was so hot!)She is the back bone of the show when playing and singing and Greg Jones has (Prob.) the best steel playing job in the USA.
I had the privilidge of seeing one of his finished ZB restorations being collected by Steiner from Norway WOW! extreme eye candy!!
Too much fun! Too much fun! |

Hi there, John! Glad to see that the rest of your trip is going well. I just wanted to tell you how much Mike and I enjoyed meeting you and having you here for dinner with Russ and Laney. You are a delightful gentleman and a wonderful new friend. Maybe we'll get to come "across the pond" and look you up one of these days. Keep in touch.
