I'll confess, I failed at my goal to learn how to play PSG. In the 15 years since I purchased this instrument, I've managed to expand from just guitar and upright bass and now also play mandolin and banjo. But I never could fight my way up the steep learning curve with PSG and now after moving it three times and it living in my closet for the past decade or so, it's time for it to go to a better home than here...

I'm by no means an expert, but some nice folks here have helped me with some of the details.

Serial number: 1C 1732, makes it Jan 7, 1974 according to Mr. Bennett at MSA.

To my knowledge, everything is original and in working order. I am able to play a few simple chords and manipulate the pedals and levers and they seem to be working correctly.

I'm selling my whole kit that includes a Goodrich volume pedal, some strings, some pics, the bar you see pictured along with the MSA case.

I'm in Los Angeles and would prefer not having to box it up and drag it to UPS, but am willing to do so on the buyer's dime if needed. It weighs about 65lbs in the case so guestimate shipping accordingly.

I've uploaded a few pictures here and have plenty more I can email out to anyone interested.

General consensus here was $1400 for the instrument and I'm hoping the extras bring it up to $1500 total, plus any shipping that might be required.

I would be open to trades for a quality acoustic guitar of similar value, or guitar +/- some cash might work depending on what you have.

Email:

SOLD

Nate from what I can see it looks Pretty darn clean to me. I don't think it'll be for sale long. Fourteen changes on it. Everything anybody needs to get going. Theirs a big following for New and Old MSA'S on the forum. Great Steel Guitars. T.L.

Keep in mind that an awful lot
of people (Joe Wright "I've quit
pedal steel a thousand times, I've
just gone back to it a thousand and
one", for one example) have stopped
trying to learn out of frustration
many times, eventually found out
what they were doing wrong, and went
back, and are glad they did.

BEFORE YOU GIVE UP

If you have to drive an hour to
take even one lesson from a good
teacher, you won't regret it. A human
being has to see what you're doing
face to face, DVD's can't see you,
don't care about you, etc...

You can already play music, you most
likely can do this.

Please look for a local teacher before
you stop trying...

Thanks for listening,
Steve

Good point Stephen. Myself, I wouldn't sell It. Even If I didn't play it much. To nice a steel. Just saying. Tennessee Lee

I appreciate the input gents, but even if I did relight the fire somehow, at best this would be the #5 instrument on my list behind upright, guitar, manodlin & banjo. Heck, I really don't have time for the groups I'm in now on these instruments... Oh Well

I plucked on it a bit when I had it out for pictures and it reinforced my decision to sell, but I do appreciate the kind words.

Thanks Steve, just added 3 pix of the changer.

I have loads of pictures and can take more of course. Anything else I should show to ensure a happy buyer?

What Craig said!

Think "the pedal steel guitar
next door..."

A Guy named Big Al in Silver Spring
once sold me a black plastic covered Maverick, and the hex end tuners were stripped, so you had to use two strips of foam rubber to hold the allen wrenches in in place so it'd stay in tune. The plastic was warped, it had scratches, it could'a used buffing. I'd never seen one up close before, let alone tried to play one.

I loved it. It sounded great!

Your guitar is immaculate.

Someone will buy this guitar!

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks Lee. Though it would sound better with somebody who know what they were doing sitting behind it Smile

No, This is a steel guitar that nobodies jacked around with. For starters rods are straight as a die. Original volume and tone controls. Usually these are long gone. When I got my D-10 I WAS fortunate to be able to drive and pick it up.
It was no where in the kind of condition yours is,
Something good came out of It though I did learn how to work on them. With the help of the forum I might add. T.L.
