Have been contacting a seller about purchasing this 12String / 7 pedal steel. They've only sent me these photos. Was curious if anyone could help me identify it? Thanks!

| Appears to be an early MSA 'Classic' body that has been altered to accomodate some type of keyless tuning system. Fretboard is a late model Sho-Bud. Cannot see the undercarriage well enough to venture a guess as to origin or how it functions(rack and barrel?) but unless you are very knowledgeable about steel guitars and their workings, you may want to pass on this one, JMO. |

| well, i'm knowledgable enough to know it's obviously not a rack and barrel, duh...especially on an msa.....and clearly the guy worked on an aircraft carrier directing landings and takeoffs with the orange semaphore!!! |

| Chris...I am fully aware that it was Sho-Bud and not MSA that employed the rack and barrel system (but judging from your many condescending posts from the past, would have expected no less of a response from you than, "duh!), but this was obviously assembled from various parts so it's anybody's guess. |

It's a Turnen Run.
Looks like MSA neck, Sho-Bud fretboard and Viktor Frankenstein laid the undercarriage.

Matthew: I don't know you, so I hope my comments don't offend you.
If you can buy this dirt cheap, and if you can actually tune this up and make it play in tune; then you might consider this purchase.
But if you've never owned or played a pedal steel, I'd say forget it. You would be highly unlikely to be confident that the pedal and levers (if any) were tuning properly.
Save your money and buy something like a Stage One, etc.
PS: "Dirt Cheap" to me would be no more than a couple hundred dollars; maybe less. You probably could never sell this thing.
Oh, silly me!! I really should read all the posts before commenting. Good to read that you bought a Carter instead. |

is it? my first impression was a 14 str cause it just looked so wide. then i'd try to count em and it kinda looked like 12. now you've said that and i kind of get 13 with a broken string. hard to tell with my old eyes.
maybe it's a super robert randolph custom!! |
