This tribute album is soon to be released, and includes a who's who list of my favourite players including Tommy White, Buck Reid, Mike Johnson, Paul Franklin, Doug Jernigan, Randle Currie, Gary Carter, J D Maness, Norm Hamlet, Dan Dougmore, Greg Leisz and others.
There are some famous musical dignitaries featured on this disc, including Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, Albert Lee, Emmylou Harris, Duane Eddy, Rodney Crowell, Little Jimmy Dickens, Joanie Keller, Raul Malo, John Anderson and Chris Stapleton. The album is produced by forumite Steve Fishell, who also plays on several tracks.
Pre-orders are currently being taken ahead of the release date of 26th August 2013 by some suppliers. I have ordered mine through Amazon, and can't wait for it to arrive. 16 tracks in total, and the artists who are performing are just an indicator of the esteem that Buddy is held in by the top line vocalists, steel players and other musicians.
I have an idea that this may turn out to be a classic album in one way or another.

This was a team effort, and the music community came together like family to help make this project a reality. Each and every person involved opened up their hearts and rolled up their sleeves, working long hours for less than their normal pay scale to make this album a reality. From Vince Gill to Pig Robbins to JayDee Maness to Duane Eddy to Albert Lee to Norm Hamlet to Willie Nelson, every person involved literally stopped what they were doing and asked "where and when do you want me?" We respect Buddy here at the SGF; I wish you could have seen and heard how the entire music community responded to this project. Here's just one example: John Esposito, the head of Warner Brothers Nashville, heard about the sessions and reached out to us to offer major label distribution.
Thank you to each and every person who helped make this salute to Buddy Emmons possible.
The release date is August 20th in the U.S. and August 26th around the world.
The album is dedicated to Buddy and Peggy Emmons, and all profits will be donated to the Country Music Hall of Fame in Peggy's name. Buddy selected the Hall as the nonprofit to receive the album's proceeds, and I'm sure happy with his decision.
I hope everyone buys one copy for themselves and one for a friend.
thank you,
Steve Fishell |

Thanks, Steve, for all your dedication to this project - it's an exciting prospect to be sure. The sleeve-art alone is worth the price!!
Albert showed me some nice photos taken in the studio with you, JayDee and him; I've been anticipating the results ever since.
I'm pre-ordering today... _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

Just received the CD through the Kickstarter project!
This REALLY is an awesome production of epic magnitude simply because the world's top artists give a tribute to the worlds biggest steel guitar player, Buddy Emmons.
My hat's off to Steve Fishell for creating such a classy album which will soon be a classic album.
Buddy must be "chuffed to bits".

Easily the most influential musical project featuring the diversity of pedal steel to ever be released. Hats off to Fish and most importantly the man highlighted- Buddy Emmons- always the king. |

Buddy Emmons is easily the most significant pedal steel guitar player that has ever lived. That's not meant to slight anyone else; it's just that the Big E is truly special. I can't wait to get my CD. |
