Well the Mitchells, Shady and Debby, have pulled another one off in superb style. The great Frenchie Burke and Curtis Potter, in addition to some local talent, entertained a full house in the little theater in Colorado City Texas on the last day of August. It was a great night, culminated by one of the best rains we've ever had here in western Texas. Don't know which we enjoyed more, the music or the wet weather. The great Jim Loessberg added some of the best steel ever to the cajun music for which Frenchie is famous. And who can beat the country songs executed by Curtis Potter. A great drummer, Randy Lovell accompanied by Curtis on bass provided one of the best rhythm sections I've heard in years. All this was preceded by Shady on steel and his band backing up some very capable local talent.

This month at the Opera House will feature one each Ferlin Husky and the great Leona Williams. Don't tell me country music is dead, it just takes the devotion and determination of folks like the Mitchells to get the job done. I made some pics of the get together and you'll have to excuse my blog--this is my first attempt but I'll work on it. Go to the following site and eyeball some good country folks:

Hope you enjoy.
