Not too mention this has to be one of the sadist country songs I've ever heard. And that is saying something.
Somehow this song has passed me by all these years as I do not believe I have ever heard it until today on Pandora. I can now say that I have heard it at least 25 times and still going...

Hey Joe, Thanks for posting this. I don't think I ever heard
it before either. I've been listening to it over and over, and
I can't understand what he sings at 1:50. It sounds like he's
singing "I'm alone with these M?????" but I can't really tell.
Wonder if maybe you or someone else can figure it out for me.

The singer sounds a lot like Vernon Oxford, they both use more like a tremolo rather than vibrato in their singing

Gary Stewart's road band lead guitar player lives in central Florida. He has been to our Monday evening show/jam in Oxford, Fl (west end of The Villages).

Here's the same song by Jim Ed Brown. The vocals are cleaner but,
I like Gary's better, and the steel on his is the best you'll ever hear.

Nice, but personally I like Gary's version much better! However, if I could play PSG like either one of these guys I would still be the happiest guy around... LOL

| pete drake's playing kind of gets discounted over the years, but when you hear it now it reminds you of some very effective moments and memories....gary stewart, bob dylan, tracy nelson....not to mention all the earlier mainstream hits by tammy et al! |

I Agree.
