I am supporting this informal "kanikapila" new venture at Dana Point in the beautiful island of Orange County, enterprise originated by my good friend Kahealani " Lani" Martins.

Support this new gathering with your attendance or participation (musicians, hula dancers, aficionados of Hawaiian culture and language, others) if you are within commuting distance. I accompany Hawaiian duo " Mana", who are Joice and Glenn Alapag, on steel guitar, 5 - 8 pm every Sunday.

It looks promising. I hope that it grows and becomes a popular club!

Pretty nice, Kay. I'll be back in LA for Thanksgiving, and I hope the kanekapila is still going then. - Jack

E Kanikapila Kākou is still in the formative stages, the ambience of the locale is still being worked but the enthusiasm prevails. Although its main musical instrument focus is ukulele, three steel guitar players have featured: Russ Costa, Kay Das, and Joz Smith. The latter two performed a steel guitar duet this evening, featuring "Hula Blues".
