I ran across this fuzzy old photo on eBay recently. Something about it intrigues me. Probably because the lap steel player is proudly front-and-center, where the steel guitar should be! And the rest of the band knows it too!

Speaking of "enlistment" and lap steel . . . Here's a photo of my late uncle Jesse Green when he was in the Air Force, probably early 1950's. This is a group of servicemen that played together in a band they called the "Pinecastle Pioneers" at the Pinecastle Air Force Base.
