Betty & Bill Jobes have been Icons in the steel guitar community for so many years. They were honored recipients of the Heartland Steel Guitar Association's "Lifetime Achievement Award" in 2012. Always present at St. Louis, adding color & excitement to the International Steel Guitar Convention, with their matching and sometimes hilarious outfits.

Memorial Services for Betty will be in Clinton, MO at the Bradley - Hadley Funeral Home www.bradley-hadley.com or 660-885-2434. We will post the date and time on the Forum once arrangements have been made.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Bill and the family.

I'm so very sorry that Betty and Bill had to go through such an ordeal.

She and Bill were some of the first people I met that were involved in steel guitars and good old country music. One of their legendary jam session events was what finally convinced me to try to learn to play a pedal steel.

Betty and Bill have always been a grand example of just how much fun a couple could have together while truly sharing their lives with each other.

Rest in peace Betty. You will always be loved and remembered by a great many people.

Ms. Betty,
may you be with the Lord.
prayers for bill and family & friends.

Her Journey’s
Just Begun

Don’t think of her as gone away-
her journey’s just begun;
life holds so many facets—
this earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
From the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and tears.
Think how she must be wishing
That we could know, today,
How nothing but our sadness
Can really pass away.
And think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched…
For nothing loved is ever lost—
And she was loved so much.

Betty and Bill had something special that few couples ever experience, plus she supported Bill's dedication to the pedal steel guitar and traditional country music. Seldom did you ever see Bill at a musical event or dance without Betty by his side. I don't know many wives who are that supportive of their husband's desire to playing music. She was a true lady, she loved and respected by all who knew her, and my heart goes out to Bill and the family. I always used to tell Betty, she knew me, before I knew me. I grew up around her family, but really never got to know Betty until Bill and I started playing music together. She, Bill and Jody (Betty's sister) used to be a country music caravan, making all the dances together, then at the end of the night Bill would pack up and they would head to the lake to spend the rest of the weekend on their boat. I am not sure how Bill is going get by without Betty, but I know prayers are a good place to start.
