Bill did it again, a great lineup of players. A nice surprise, Lynn Owsley was there with that pretty Derby. He's not just a wonderful picker, he's a heck of an entertainer, with stories and jokes. Hank Corwin!!! Hank and Lynn did a set together with twin steels, then Hank did some alone. I've never heard anything like it, he played a GFI S10, and made it sound like C6 and every other tuning you've ever heard and the tone would make you want a GFI, absolutely gorgeous. You can never say enough about Buck Grantham, he plays things you never hear on steel and sounds great doing it. He even played "Ghost Riders", did a fine job on it. Joe Wright is always a favorite, one of the worlds great crowd pleasers. Bob Saxton just doesn't know there are some things that can't be done on guitar so he does them anyway, incredible. Beautiful Sera was there, but had to leave and did not perform, a pity. Sorry I can't mention every one, there were just too many fine players. Hal Higgins played steel, piano and bass, and sang so well. Billy Carr held drawings and gave free hats with the Carr's Steel Guitar Shop logo. He is a fine steeler and person,He'll treat you right for your steel guitar needs. Rusty Wilson sang on my set and did a great job, folks loved his voice. Rob Parker seems to know every song written and is a terrific singer. We missed Ben O'Dell. Sorry to be so long winded, as you can tell, I loved the show, thanks Bill.

You are correct Howard. This was one of the best steel shows we've had on the gulf coast. My hat is off to Bill Stafford for a great show. Everybody did a great job yesterday from the steel pickers to the staff band people. Rains, GFI, Derby,Emmons,Excel,Fessenden,Sierra and Mullen were well represented.

This was such a pleasure to see Hank come out of retirement and he sounds like he never stopped playing...
Our thanks to Bill Stafford and all who helped to make this happen...
And thanks again to all the pickers who made us sound good...and to Rob Parker for the fine vocals....And to all the other wonderful people who made us feel welcome "Thanks A Lot"

There was so much talent and fun going on in Gulfport this past Sat. (8-5-06), it was really hard to say which one I liked best. Hank C knocked me out.....He may say that he's "not up to speed yet"....but not many, if any, could tell it......Lynn was spectacular, and it sure was good to see him again after these many years (I think it was around 1976 or 77),,,fantastic Lynn. I didn't get to stay and hear Joe Wright.....but I'm sure he was his usual great self.....and awesome player and entertainer........Bill did a fantastic job keeping everything together....thanks for the good time......anticipating the next one. HAL P.S. Buck G. You 'da man (cajun that is).......

Sure hate I missed such a great show. I've talked to a bunch of folks that said it was a sho-nuff good-un.
Just for the record, my ole wore out back went out, the Monday before the show. I've been laid up since.
However, I'm doing a little better now (after a couple of trips to the sawbones, one of them good shots, and a tremendous drain on the pocket book)but still ain't gonna break no speed records.
I appreciate all the calls and mail from everyone and the good wishes and prayers.
We gonna do it agian in December and Lord willin, I'll have all this stuff behind me.
It has been brought to my attention that Hank and Lynn brought the house down. Man I hate I missed that one.

Well, all you wonderful players have said it much better than I ever could. It was one of our best good time shows. This only happens when the players, families, and audience is just having the best of times. That is what happened for our last show.
So, I will just extend my sincere thanks to all of you who were there and hope to see you in Oct for our next one.
