Well here is my first question in the steel guitar world. I just installed some 1" rod extenders on my guitar which made it much easier to play but here is the problem. I had to lower the LKV lever "it did not move enough though" so i could reach it a little more comfortably, now the lid to my case will not close all the way. Has anyone else had this problem? Should i just take it of when in the case or adjust it every time i unpack it? How can i move the lever farther down to reach it better with the ole knee?

Sometimes you can just "bend it over to the other direction. I had a Williams that had a LKV on my C6 neck. I had to fold it backward to fit it into the case. You could also just loosen the nut if your knee lever has them and fold it the other way. Taking it off is also a method, but putting it back on could be a pain in the butt. Dropping something like a nut in the undercarriage is a very nerve wracking experience.

Matt,
I agree with Richard. You my need to alter the way the lever connects or make a new piece the lever connects to, so you can flip it the other direction, out of the way. A slight curve in the lever, like many builders use, is also helpful. RP

Thanks guys, i have been able to adjust it enough to play it now but i will have to come up with something so i don't have to take the lever off every single time its in the case and yes i am afraid of loosing that little nut.

John Walden had some custom made extensions for the LKV. You may want to look into something like that as an option.

I extended my LKV a few years back. Better than a block of wood I guess, and it works on my SD12 PP and my Le Grande III. Not very pretty, but it works great. It must also be removed to fit into the case. I usually use it in combination with my LKL.
