I'm venturing far out on this one, but hope NO ONE will take any offense by it.
A Forumite forwarded this item to me and since he is a steel player as am I, I felt a strong potential for enjoyment among a majority of you folk.
Lots of guitars, great blended singing, fabulous yodeling, lots of really tight instrumental 'harmony' arrangements, great scenery and video camera work, a wide variety of musical instrumentation, a fast-moving, multi-stage program.
I found this to be far more entertaining than any Grand Ole Opry show that I have witnessed in the last couple of decades. All informal stage settings, everyone with 'a uniform' of one kind or another, seated and standing musicians and no one jumping around shaking their hair, etc.

This may not be country........but one would have a difficult time to deny its musical quality and the performances thereon.

What is the English translation for:
30 Jahre Musikantenstdl aus Fribourg?
Is this an ALL STAR SHOW?
Is this talent contest?

I've always liked all kinds of music, not just steel guitar which still remains my strong favorite.
This series on You Tube has been a real eye-opener for me, a truly uplifting experience...musically.
Just watching the musicians and the crowds...........
EVERYONE seems to be really happy and not displaying those phony, Hollywood plastic smiles. Everyone on the show exhibits a high degree of professionalism and their delivery is perfecto! The camera work is the kind every performer should clamor for.
The size of the crowds make my early visions of the Grand Ole Opry seem miniscule by comparison.

What kind of steel did he have?
I'm convinced steel players here in the USA should forget the idea of wearing differing hat styles, ala
Buddy Emmons.........
His outfit, short pants, bare knees, 3/4 length red socks and hiking boots, of course topped off by the hat, is certainly eye-catching attire. It should be a natural for a fad type movement.
By the way, I have no idea what they were singing about Could you translate for me? |
