Wow!! I really like this group. Never heard of them before.

And what is the steel player playing? It looks like a Rickenbacher contained within some sort of larger body to facilitate playing standing up. It seems to function like the belly bar that Asher markets, to get the steel away from your body enough to be able to play the entire fret board.

There's a tune called Long Gone on YouTube where she leans forward and you can see this during her solo. Is that homemade or something commercially available? I want one for my Supro. Maybe I'll have to make it.

Yeah, as discussed previously, Megan Lovell is playing a Rickenbacker B6 in open G tuning with a custom designed harness for playing upright.

Larkin Poe is really getting popular in Europe. They've done a couple of tours there and have been well received. I'm waiting to see them hit the West Coast (of the USA) some time.

Yeah, her tone is fantastic. Very tasteful playing, too. Hope they get to the DC area sometime.

Megan is an interesting example of someone who started on resonator guitar and has gradually focused more on electric lap steel. They started out with their sister Jessica as the Lovell Sisters, but when Jessica left, Megan and Rebecca formed Larkin Poe and gradually turned to a more electric and eclectic focus.
Megan still plays acoustic resophonic guitar, but I'm seeing her play the Rickenbacker much more now. It will be interesting to see where she takes this.

Edited to give the correct band name. Thanks, Steve.

Brad,
I believe it was the Lovell Sisters, not Larkin.

The thing on her steel looks like it might've been sawed out of some cheap disposable guitar.

Another nice song live with nice steel playing by Megan and you can see the holder she uses for her B6 better in this video.
