Is anyone, out there, brave enough to try this and reply back with their results??
Lightly slide your two fingers and thumb over the inside of a banana-peel before you put your picks on. Thanks....

This has been discussed here before, MANY times. I just lick my fingers before putting the picks on. It makes it easier to slide them on, and when they dry, the picks stay "glued" to my fingers and NEVER fall off. No reason to have to use or buy anything else for this problem. My mouth is always with me, no matter where I play.

I used to do the lick-the-fingertips thing and it worked wonderfully ... however, in my case, things have changed. I suffered an accident some years ago that resulted in severe radial and ulnar nerve damage in my right arm and hand (actually, it was both arms and hands, but my left arm and hand have drastically improved ... I still suffer greatly in my right arm/hand). My fingers no longer have moisture and even using hand lotion doesn't keep them moisturized.

Licking my finger tips no longer works (well, it does for all of maybe one minute, then my picks are quickly falling off again).

For awhile I was using products like Rosinit (which is no longer manufactured), hair spray, or anything I could find that would basically glue my picks on and keep them in place. And, ran into a few issues ... if my picks did stay on for awhile, they felt glued on and uncomfortable. Most of the time, though, they'd stick for a few songs and then break loose again.

I've seen the banana peel thing mentioned before and, yes, in desperation for anything that might work to keep my picks on, I tried even that. It did not work at all. Seemed like everything I tried either didn't work or didn't work well.

I thought I'd always have to deal with the picks falling off issue and then, quite by accident, almost a year ago I stumbled onto something that proved to be like a miraculous answer to prayer.

What I use now (and, yes, I'm giving them a plug here) is a product made by Wayne Hobbs called Sticky Picks. Not only does this stuff really work, my picks feel natural and never have a "glued on" feeling and, in those moments when I get carried away and sit at my steel for six hours or more, it's still holding my picks on securely after all that playing! Plus, there's no harsh chemicals in it ... it's all natural ingredients. I love it.

I think it's wonderful when someone can put their picks on and they stay, or, do the lick the fingertips trick and picks will stay on, but if this isn't working for you and your picks continue to get loose or want to fall off, I highly recommend giving Sticky Picks a try. Very Happy

If anyone's interested in checking it out, here's a link to Wayne's web site:

Cheapest fiddle bow rosin you can find, crushed up and dissolved in alcohol. Will make about a quart. But you can experiment to get the right stickiness.

Put it on the inside of your picks with a cue tip and let dry. Lick you fingers and put your picks where you want them to stay.

You'll have to peel your picks off at the end of the night.

If I didn't have a quart of the stuff, I'd be using the bottle of Waynes "Stiky Picks" I have.

Try some "shrink wrap tubing".
You will not need much. Inexpensive, any way.

Take the picks with you. Find the tubing that will fit onto picks.
Go back to the house and borrow a hair dryer.
The heat will shrink the tubing for a perfect fit.

Home depot, Radio Shack, etc.

This will work.

The only thing I use a banana for is as a snack.

I've seen this topic before. I've never had a problem with picks coming off. I do like strawberrys with bananas, but not while I'm playing.

I line the inside of my picks with double-sided carpet tape. I cut a little strip, stick it using tweezers if necessary, and trim it. It's very sticky at first but after one playing session the picks go on nicely. I have to change it every three weeks or so because it becomes gummy & shredded if I leave it too long, but it works and it's worth the time.

I USE to have the problem with picks falling off and in 40 yrs of playing ive tried about everything and a lot of diff picks, then i simplified my life and bought a set of JF picks about 2-3 yrs ago and i havnt had one fall off yet, its one thing less to worry about, they may not be for everybody but they sure work great for me

You will keep your mouth shut keeping you out of trouble, your picks will never come off, your bar won't slip out of your hand and you will never have to worry about showing up for a gig discovering you forgot to bring them. banana flavored super glue

Funny Bobby. I actually have more trouble keeping my pants from falling off more than my picks. Since I got sick last month, I have had to add 2 new holes to my belts from lost weight.

Still just lick my fingers to hold my picks on. Can't reach my waist with my mouth, so I can't see if licking my waist would help hold up my pants. Laughing
