You know I was thinking today(as dangerous as that might seem) of how being named the #1 Steel Guitar player in the land in the mid to late 50's, could put an enormous amount of pressure on just about anyone. Yet Buddy has performed at such a high level for so many years... a true testament to his talent and gift. Thank you Mr. Emmons for sharing your talent and inspiring so many of us to pursue some sort of journey with this whacky but wonderful instrument called the Pedal Steel Guitar. Mega tip O' the hat to you!

I'd hate to think, what our beloved steel guitar, would've been without Buddy Emmons. Thanks, Mr. "E" You definitely are still #1, in my book!!!!!!

Being the foremost player is one thing. Being involved in Sho-Bud guitars and then producing the PP guitar, that for all intensive purposes set the standards for what steel guitars should sound like, puts him on a completely different level.

He sure was an inspiration to me to learn all I could, i wore out a many 45 rpm ET record with 2 quarters on the tone arm trying to slow down his licks. Mr. Emmons you will always be # 1 till the end of time.

Buddy Emmons has been for many years called the "Big E". I have always said that I could just sit and watch him tune his guitar and be in awe of him. Buddy definitely has fulfilled his calling in this life.

There has been no one more creative on stage, in the studio and building guitars. He's done it all very well. A point man in the jungle. King of the apes. Very Happy

Whatever Buddy did was gold in my book...he inspired us all to this very day...I've never been on to be "Star Struck", but I talked to him on the phone once many years ago...well, talked probably isn't the correct way to describe blubbering all over myself when I had him on the phone... Embarassed Embarassed ...he was still very nice, and very easy going...how do you not love that man!!

He sure inspired a lot of us to do better just trying to do the things he waa playing. You could pick out his style of playing without even knowing who was on a record.Great Man in my eyes and still is.RS

The fact that the very best steel guitarists on Earth ALL tip their hat to this one man says it all. I often heard Herby Wallace remark: "The thing is about Emmons. . . He's done so many things, and done them all so well. . . nobody will ever catch up to him; nobody will ever come close"

Like so many, Buck, he was my initial inspiration to play. For me, it was "Wichita Lineman" on the Suite Steel album. I heard that cut, played it 30 or 40 times, walked down the street and bought a Maverick and joined a band. That tune truly changed my life. Thanks, Buddy.

Buddy also produced a bunch of meticulously done and helpful steel courses including The "Swingin" series, Basic C6, Half Duzin' Shuffles, Intros & Turnaround I and II, E9 Vocabulary, The Christmas CD with tab, and more. I certainly found these fun to use and learned a lot from them. Thx, Buddy, steve t
