I don't have a CNC, do pattern routing instead. I've seen a bearing failure turn a lap steel into scrap in a matter of seconds. You'll need a lot of wood filler to save that one.

Owch!! nothing like 20,000+ RPM's of razor sharp steel with a mind of its own. At least the ghost in the machine did not rear its ugly head with a high dollar piece of stock.

For sure, things can go bad fast when when a bearing fails. I've gotten into the habit of doubling up the bearings on my top bearing pattern bits where I can. Unfortunately thats not an option on most bottom mounted flush trim bits, though my Whiteside 2" cut carbide spiral bit is designed for dual bearings. While no bit or bearing failure is fun, that big spiral bit is scary enough when things are good.

That integral tuning head mount is a very neat arrangement.

I've already repaired ----------- it took an hour.

I my situation , the Router is held by a Robotic arm "Gantry" that does the X-Y-Z motions.
This time it had a glitch in the power and the computer saw it as go back to zero position.
It forgot to raise it's self to the above the work position before returning to Zero.

The Result is the 1/2 -- 4 Flute cutter cuts through what is in it's path on the return.

No one was hurt, or in danger in general, This is why We Farm Out all of the Dangerous Stuff.
