Who remembers them? I can find very little info on-line.

I used to have one - a black combo-amp. Very powerful and very clean. I was drawn to them because my friend Adrian Legg used a Stramp very effectively.

I think they were German in origin. I do recall going to Germany to do a TV show with Duane Eddy in the mid-'70s and they'd provided a Stramp back-line for us (Duane as well).

No-one I've asked has ever heard of them so I'm interested to hear if the name rings any bells on here.

Hi Roger,
I've never seen one 'in the flesh' (in the tolex? lol), but I recall seeing pictures of Rory Gallagher using them in the early seventies, on German tv performances, if memory serves me well.

I did see him live a few times, but he used a combination of Vox, Fender and Marshall on those occasions.

There are so many interesting marques that have faded from view ...

All the best,
Lee (fellow ex-pat)

Hi again Roger,

Here's a You Tube link of Rory, with glimpses of black tolex Stramp amps behind him and red ones behind the bass player:

My curiosity piqued, a quick Google search turned up this web page:

See what you've started!

That's more than I found, Lee - thanks.

I'll email Adrian and see what he remembers; I wasn't aware of the Rory Gallagher connection.

The amazing thing is that I can neither remember where I bought mine or where and when I sold it - or why! I suspect that, as I was an early convert to MusicMan, the change for me happened in 1975/6.

Thanks, Lee, for posting the video of RG, probably my favorite rock/blues guitarist of all time. Brings back memories of seeing him in the late seventies.

Sorry for the (brief) hijack!

From Adrian:

"

Adrian Legg

I think the bloke's name was Peter Strueven (I could have the spelling wrong). I was introduced to him by Maurice Placquet, who had a shop west of Shepherds' Bush where I bought some strings. I think Peter gave it all as good a promotional shove as he could, but didn't score well enough to develop any further and I suppose they fizzled out. "

It seems Adrian's a bit hazy about it all these days. They were an excellent amp but I guess there weren't enough 'Rory Gallaghers' to get them off the ground.

Roger, I remember seeing Adrian when he was with Country Fever use his Stramp at the Red Lion Brentford. Yes he did say they were German. Small little things but LOUD!! .. Time flys. I'd dread to drive to those areas again from where I live in Essex. Come to think of it, I'd never drive in central London "EVER" too many cars Sad
