I am looking for a Forum member in the New Port Richey, Florida area who could pack and ship a Sierra D10 from my sister's house in New Port Richey to Lynn Stafford's shop in Oregon. From there Lynn would take over and have it sent to a buyer in Sweden. The problem, which I did not realize, is my sister and husband are to infirm to do this. Of course I would pay a fee to the person and would have my brother-in-law go to UPS or FED-EX with him and take care of the forms etc.
I also would like someone who has the knowledge of how to pack a steel and would send instructions (which are on The Forum) on packing a pedal steel. I have also posted in the Pedal Steel section asking which companies might do this, but would much rather have a member, who is more likely know who to pack properly. Thanks, stevet |

I don't know if you read my other post first, but what I would do would be have UPS pick it up in the case, take it to their store (full of packing stuff!) then secure the insides by your instructions. You can almost certainly talk right to the guy who'd do the packing. And when they pack it, if it still gets damaged the insurance payoff is automatic. They do this kind of thing all the time, for various manufacturers and such. |

Guys in the New Port Richey area; I'm making a plea for to help to collect, pack and ship this guitar for a fee. I have tried 4 UPS stores in the area with one saying: "no" and three no responses. If any of you can suggest an alternative way to collect, pack: and ship this Sierra using a reputable company, I sure would appreciate it. I'm looking into using couriers now. if you know any good ones, please post or email me. Thanks, Stevet |

Steve, Here is my take on the ship part: Send it with Air(China?) Cargo from an international airport - to your int airport of choice in China.
That way you get rid of all the hassles with UPS FedUp etc etc
I do this when I send a steel to Norway: Right from London, Ont. Int Airport with Air Canada Cargo, to Oslo airport. Best way and also the cheapest - for me. _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

Bent, thanks for the tip about overseas shipping. This guitar hopefully will be sent to Lynn Stafford in Oregon and after some modifications will be shipped by Lynn to Sweden. I agree though that air freight (cargo) is the way to go. I've done it twice before and it got there in a couple of days and easy way, way, cheaper than UPS or FED-UP |

There is no steel picker in Port Richey/New Port Richey that I know of.
I ran the Florida Steel Guitar club for 10 years and had a list of just about all the steel pickers.
The closest one is in Spring Hill, but he works in Orlando so is not readily available.
I'm 60 miles away (and currently traveling) so I can't do it.
The only possibility I can think of is Bondz Music in Wildwood, Fl. The owner is a steel picker and may consider it since you are willing to pay for the service. (352) 748-5048 |

Jack, thanks for taking the time to do the two posts and I will do a search and contact Johnny Bondz music today. I just now found a Forum member who lives in NPR using the SEARCH function and contacted him. Again, much appreciated. Hope to get up to your area when I am at my sister's place in the NPR area though it won't be this summer. stevet |
